Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women
As the only freestanding women’s hospital in Memphis, Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women offers labor and delivery, gynecological surgery, a newborn intensive care unit (NICU) and the Comprehensive Breast Program. Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women is also the regional referral center for high-risk pregnancies, mammography, minimally invasive surgeries, outpatient diagnostics and urogynecology.
Entering The Hospital
Use the main entrance to the Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, located at the Humphreys Boulevard entrance. After hours the main entrance is locked at 9:00 p.m. and all guests are asked to enter the hospital through the Children's Emergency Entrance.
Patient and visitor parking areas are located in the front lot and the four-story parking garage across from the hospital.
Snack and drink machines are located on the ground floor across from the elevators in the lobby and at the north end of the dining hall.
The Daisy Groner chapel, located off the hospital's main lobby, is always open and provides a quiet place for prayer and meditation.
Visiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Parents are encouraged to visit their baby at the NICU whenever they can. Parents may bring visitors with them. Please do not bring visitors or siblings who are ill (runny nose, fever, cough, diarrhea). Babies in the NICU are very susceptible to germs.
- If she chooses, mothers may decide to allow up to four others to visit her baby without her being present. Mothers can do this by filling out a permission form in the NICU. These special visitors can be grandparents or other support persons whom the mother chooses. These visitors will have access to the baby's medical information, which is why the mother will have to sign a form to allow them to visit without her.
- Brothers and sisters of NICU babies are welcome to visit, too. A parent must be with them at all times. A copy of the current immunization record for brothers and sisters between ages 4 to 13 years old must be shown. If brother or sister is sick, please wait until he or she is well before returning to the NICU. During October through April when certain viruses are prevalent, the NICU may not be able to allow brothers and sisters to visit.
- Siblings are welcome to visit on the weekends with a parent from May through September. It is best for the baby to have only two siblings in the NICU at one time and to limit the visit to 20 minutes or less. If more than two siblings are present, they may wait with an adult in the waiting room.
In accordance with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its implementing regulations, Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, directly or through contractual or other arrangements, admits and treats all persons without regard to race, color, sex, age, disability, or national origin in its provision of services and benefits, including assignments or transfers within the facility and referrals to or from the facility. Staff privileges are granted without regard to race, color or national origin.
